Hi ya....just me....little ol' Kim. Things have remained busy, busy over here in Pickleland. Wedding season is officially in full swing and that has been consuming the bulk of my time. I have also been planning and designing invites for two very important people: Julia (my daughter) and my mom (who happens to be celebrating the big 6-0 this year). Both invites I plan on featuring on here as I am SO pleased with the way they turned out. Let's just say it is all in the little details.

CLASSES
I have a couple of amazing classes for you...how about a couple of cards and some mixed media? Give us a shout at the store to register or stop in to see these beauties for yourself (please DO NOT email).

Cards by Pauline

I know I say this all the time, but my photos never do these cards justice. Pauline has blown me away with her cards this month. Both are full of beautiful design elements and technique. I know these are two cards you may have difficulty parting with!

Here are the details.....You will be heat embossing big time in this class. You will also be learning shading tricks and Pauline will show you how simple details and embellishments can take your cards to the next level. Great class for all!

SPECIAL NOTE: We will be working with silicone in this class so if you are allergic, you may have to sit this one out.....sorry.

Mixed Media Canvas by Debbie

Have you noticed that mixed media is all the rage these days? Have you ever wondered how to achieve these looks? Debbie will give you some tips in this two hour class. She has created a gorgeous 5x7 floral themed canvas. The dimension and texture is fabulous. You will work with acrylic paints, vellum, tissue, glitter, stamps, sprays, rub-ons, stencils and more....This beauty really has to be seen in person to be fully appreciated. Not sure if canvas work is your thing? All of these concepts can be applied to other projects including cards and scrapbook layouts! Another great class for all levels.

NEW! Unity & My Mind's Eye

It has been quite fun at the store this past week.....you will remember that it started out with Jen's cupcakes on Valentine's Day. I have to admit that numbers were up this past Valentine's. In fact, they were up quite a bit thanks to Jen. I managed to eat a total of 4 cupcakes (red velvet with cream cheese frosting, chocolate with pink frosting, chocolate with chocolate frosting and white with lavender frosting). Then, because the kids from the Montessori did not eat all the mini cupcakes I made, I ate about 8 of those! Whoa! Maybe I better type the rest of my post while running on the treadmill!!! This should be interesting.

NEW PRODUCT ALERT
Then.....all the new product started rolling in. Anyone that was in the store Tuesday and Wednesday would admit that it was a little wild on the counter.....there was product everywhere. Have a look at all the fun CHA product that has arrived....

Unity Rubber Stamps
I think I have admitted that Unity is one of my absolute favourite rubber stamp companies out there. Their rubber is so deep and beautiful. The images range from vintage to cute and whimsical. They are cling mounts so they take up less space in your craft room (or drawer) and the price is always right!

I am so excited to tell you Mixed Media fans, that I have a bunch of Unity & Christy Tomlinson cling rubber stamps in. They make fantastic backgrounds for cards, layouts and well, any project! Have a look at some of the designs....

My Mind's Eye

Has anyone seen My Mind's Eye's latest creations? Beautiful and perfect once again. Their releases are always huge and filled with amazing new designs in various colours with gorgeous buttons, stamps, brads and embellishments to match. All the 6x6 pads and embellishments are in. We should see all the 12x12 designer paper in the next couple of weeks.

Will you be my Valentine?

Happy Valentine's Day! I don't know about you but I love Valentine's Day because it gives you the right to eat chocolate or cupcakes all day....even for breakfast. That's a rule of Valentine's Day, right?

So as a VERY special treat to my customers, I have asked my TRULY TALENTED sister, Jen to bake us up some of her famous cupcakes! Here is a photo of what you can expect every time from Jen.....beautiful presentation, attention to detail and a high quality product made from scratch!

I am not sure if you have heard of Jen's baking yet, but trust me, it is SO delicious (and I am not just saying that!). If you came to our Christmas Open House just last November, you would have sampled these melt in your mouth morsels of heaven. Jen's cupcakes are bigger than a mini but smaller than a regular size cupcake....the perfect size if you ask me! If you are ever interested in placing an order, I have Jen's cards available here at the store.

So I have a BIG problem. I am working on invitations for a girl and only recently I found out that the ribbon that we were using is now discontinued.....it is NO where to be found! The bride has her heart set on this ribbon and I only have about half of what I need. The ribbon is a beautiful eggplant organza ribbon with glitter all over it. It is 7/8" in width. We have had it in black, crimson, teal and eggplant (dark purple). I think it is the only ribbon we have ever carried that was glittery like this. We have carried for many years. Here is a photo of the ribbon I am looking for.....

So this is where the deal gets sweet for you.................If you have this ribbon, I am willing to trade you whatever you have for 5 times of something else! A win-win if you ask me! My HAPPY Post!

So a couple of weeks ago, I put a call out for paper crafting items to be donated to The Chatham-Kent Women's Centre. And the response was UNBELIEVABLE! I thought we would get some stickers and paper but never did I imagine we would get huge Fiskars paper trimmers, carrying cases, MOUNDS of beautiful paper, tons of envelopes and 100's of stamps!!! Truly. Have a look at what you brought in!! I spent the afternoon trying to sort the product into categories so it will be easier to use. I swear the counter wasn't even big enough to organize this amazingly generous stash.

All items will be passed on to the Centre this week and if all goes well, I will be teaching a class in the upcoming months!

This makes me happy. You should all be proud of yourselves for helping to bring smiles to the women and children of the C-K Women's Centre!

Linda will be teaching a copic and prisma pencil class using two adorable Stampingbella stamps: Sorry Shanna & Little Birdie Jane (NEW stamp from January release!) I do not have the colours for the required markers and pencils but all I have to say is that you are interested in learning how to REALLY use your markers, you HAVE to take this class. Linda is a pro and we are lucky to have her here in our hometown!!

FREE Stamp Rentals - 2 Weeks ONLY

So I have been wanting to do this for some time now. Remember all those years ago, around Christmas time, when we would rent our stamps for free if you donated a canned good. We collected hundreds of pounds of food each year which was donated to Outreach for Hunger. It felt so good to give back to the community.

Do you want to do it again? Well, this time I thought it would be amazing to share with others who are interested in crafting but may not be able to indulge in the hobby at this time. So I have decided that for the next two weeks (January 17 - 28) come in for a FREE stamp rental! All you have to do is donate some of your unwanted scrapbooking and stamping products. These items will then be given to the Chatham Kent Women's Centre. I know the centre is always looking for activities for the women and children who are staying there. And please, be generous! Just think of how many smiles you will be creating through this one little gesture.....just in time for Valentine's Day. Oh. And hey. Even if you are not interested in renting, why not bring in some of those stickers and paper you are not using just for the heck of it. I know they will be thrilled will any and all of the items we will be passing along!!

At last she returns.....Happy 2012!

Well, hello there. Did you miss me? I bet you have all been so busy yourselves that you have not noticed my lack of posts. I felt like last week was my catch-up week.....a return to normal if you will. The kids are back to school and I am back to my usual time in the store. So do you want to hear what I have been up to....pull up a chair....this could take a while!

Scrapbooking Paper....Not just for albums anymore!

So this year, I had it set in my mind that Trev and I would give Julia a doll house this year for Christmas. And you know me, not any old doll house would do. I am not the type of girl who likes all those plastic-y toys that you can buy anywhere. My doll house (or should I say Julia's!) had to be original. I ordered a Melissa & Doug house from one of my distributors. It was a gorgeous, build-it-yourself model in real wood. Yes, I had to use real nails and a glue gun, etc.....this was hard-core.

And you all know me.....I ordered it in with lots of time to pull it together but what do you think happened??? Yes, I waited until a week before Christmas to assemble it! And I think I spent too much time decorating and designing the interior that I didn't allow myself enough time for the actual construction!!! Ooops! But I must say "Just-In-Time" girl did it again. This time I completed the project at 3am on CHRISTMAS EVE!!! Ah....honestly, why do I work this way? It was a success though.....she LOVED it! Here is a picture of my girl a couple of days after Christmas with it!

So I decorated the majority of the house in various lines from Crate Paper (one of my favourite companies ever). Notice even the floors were covered in their "wood" paper. And check out all the furniture. All of this furniture was purchased from Ella Minnow Pea. It is all made of real wood and I know this stuff will last for generations. I have to say my favourite room has to be the kitchen!

So do I have you convinced to make one of your own?!?! It was not hard.....just give yourself enough time! I see Lesli at Ella Minnow Pea has a barn that would look awesome in our backyard.....hmmm....wonder how I can decorate that?!? An Easter gift perhaps? Ask me on Good Friday how it's going.

Invitations: We like to Do them BIG TIME

For the first week of 2012, I worked on one massive order for a local business. I mean, over 200 pounds of invitations! 1,220 invitations to be exact. I had set up shop in my dining room and literally glued from morning 'til night. Here is a look at my progress (about half way through the week).

I must say that my best friend in the process was ZIP DRY. The product just sticks. But what is great about it is that there is time to shift your paper if you have misplaced it. Also, I love the fact that if a little bit oozes out the sides, you can just rub it, and it will be gone. I did have a lot of little glue boogers on my floor but darn, did those invites look perfect!

My only warning about working with Zip Dry is to make sure you do not use too much.....a little really does go along way. What happens if you use too much is that you run the risk of it absorbing through your paper and the paper becomes transparent.....seeing adhesive on a finished product is a no-no. I learned this lesson about 4 years ago when we worked on our Christmas cards. About 300 of my already stamped and coloured images were ruined because I really wanted to make sure the paper stuck!! I knew this time not to make that mistake!! I will show you guys the finished product once the event happens. I was quite proud of the end product.

CHA....Here We Come?

So I have been debating or should I say dreaming about CHA in California this year. Oh how I would love to go but who would watch the kiddies? Maybe I can figure it out before the end of the month. I have been checking out the various emails from suppliers and I must say that I am quite impressed so far with the new releases.

You will have to check out The Scrap Review and tell me what products you absolutely need (don't be afraid to email me!). Joan told me about this site and I swear I spent an hour this morning jotting down notes and drooling over my favourite new products. I must say that MME has done it again! Still one of my #1 companies.

I also swooned over the new Tim Holtz dies and embossing folders. Now don't tell anyone but I kind of have a crush on Tim Holtz......AND I have a little something in the works with him. Let's just say that I did receive an email from him this weekend. Hmmmm.....yes, I will keep you guessing.

Busy Ordering

And so yes, I have been busy catching up this past week. One of my duties was ordering. Let me just tell you that I have pre-ordered ALL 12 new copic colours! Let me know if you need any of this set aside (our price is still $6.49 per marker!). Penny Black stamps (which have been long over due) are ordered and should be here in the next two weeks! I have also ordered from Stampingbella, Hero Arts and Verses.

The super hot, SMASH products have all been ordered and are now back in stock. I am hoping (and praying) that K&Co has a HUGE new release of SMASH stuff. I have to admit that I did take a few breaks over the past two weeks to smash.....that's what Julia and I call it. I will share in a future post I promise!

Mini Shaker Scrapbooking Class

Hey!

Have a look at this fun album.....I am so thrilled to (finally) design a project for my son using photos from our family session a couple of years ago (with Fairytales photography). This brand NEW paper line from My Minds Eye was THE paper I have been waiting for to make the perfect project for Coulter. It is a nice heavy kraft cardstock with printed designs in either black or bright colours. This is a Kaiser Craft album so you can expect a nice heavy weight and awesome quality.

So what did Coulter think of the project? Well, he said it was cool and then asked if he could shake it....

The cover....note the subtle title at the bottom AND in the star are little beads and goodies that act as the shaker part of the project!

The inside pages....we will work with stickers, rub ons, buttons, embossed cardstocks and more.

Inside pages....We will stamp on acetate, use glitter ritz, rhinestones, punches, distress inks, etc.

Final two pages....We will stamp, use stickers, distress and work with various patterned designer papers.

So these paints were suppose to be here weeks ago but I am thrilled to say they are now here! These are all the rage in the mix media world! Did you happen to catch Linda's Mixed Media class this past Wednesday at the Pickle? I couldn't believe how much ENERGY was in the room when I walked in after class! Every one's projects looked unique and different BUT so amazing! I am thrilled to get in on this Tuesday's class!!

What I think is the absolute coolest thing about these acrylic paints, is that they have 15 different colours, but they show you below how to turn these 15 colours into 51 different colours! Check it out!

What's new in October? Part 1 of 2

I am not sure what has been wrong with me lately. I have been on this mission to get organized and de-clutter. This is true at both home and at the store. I mean I have totes of clothes that are too small for Jules and Colts....why? As a side....anyone looking for girls or boys clothes from newborn-size 5 give me a call! Ha!

And yes, I did mention that I am getting organized at the store as well.....and that can only mean some CRAZY sales. I have over 20 different Stampingbella designs all priced at $2.00 or less. Most of these retail at $10+. Classics including some Stellas, bellas, kettos and more. In fact, most of the items on the sales cart are priced at 75% off or better! Honestly, when I get in the mood to clean.....I do it right. PS....as a side, the regular price Stampingbella BOGO 50% sale ends Saturday!

So all of this cleaning has a purpose.....it is to make room for NEW! We have some fabulous NEW product in the store. Anyone looking for Crate Paper's two latest collections: Random & Farmhouse? I have brought in the 12x12 collection packs and 6x6 pads.

Random: I love the colours and girly-vintage feel of this line.

Random: Check out the die cuts you get in the collection pack!

Farmhouse: This collection is just too cozy and full of love. Such warm colours.

They are all make with a faux leather and suede (even the inside covers are suede). They are all the d-ring binders with a non-snag closure. The books are in store now and I have a bunch of the different page protectors on the way....you know the ones that let you just add photos like a photo album and those hybrids (photo/scrapbook-y layouts). Check out all the different designs!

If you are either: a) afraid of 12x12 layouts.....b) have limited time these days....c) need to complete an album in a hurry.....or d) all of the above....then these are the pages for you! Seriously, look at the options here! Too cool.

What else? How about a little My Mind's Eye. Now I have to tell you that these collections are not in store yet......however, my credit card has been charged and that can only mean that it is in transit. I am SO in love with the kraft.....and check out the designs. We have individual papers, collections (12x12 and 6x6) as well as embellishments coming in. Here I introduce Kraft Funday to you.....

This is a great class for students of all ages and levels. You will be working with coloured pencils and learning shading techniques, using ink of shade, cutting with spellbinders, heat embossing, using pop-dots and multi-coloured card stocks to add dimension and intrigue to your cards, using water colour markers to shade, using stickles and other products to decorate your cards!

First of all.....Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Can you believe how lucky we have been with our weather here in Chatham? I spent the day tackling my garage and I didn't even complain once....maybe because the sun was shining and maybe because I had my two helpers keeping themselves busy and thus allowing me to be very productive!

And secondly.....Wow! You guys REALLY loved the latest round of classes! It is quite an eclectic mix of projects! Christmas Paper Crafting with Debbie
Debbie has designed two projects that you may have to recreate a half dozen times (or more) this holiday season to wow all the people on your list!

The stocking project is actually a gift card or money holder.

The gift bag show cases a really cool paper folding technique to create a Christmas tree. You will also work with the ever popular peel off stickers, cuttlebug embossing folders, punches and more. This is a great class for all levels and ages.

Decorative Wall Hanging by Kim
There is still room in my class. Now I know my pictures were not the best so I thought I should give you a better look.

The project is approximately 26" in length and 8" wide and is made out of Kaiser Craft's amazingly sturdy MDF board which is then decorated with paper, photos and embellishments. You will be making the paper flowers using Spellbinder dies and learning a great technique using inks to "burn" your paper. A perfect class for crafters of all levels and ages.

Date: Monday October 25th

Fall Classes

As promised here is the next round of paper crafting classes! I am so excited to be offering some different classes this month including a mix media canvas project (a first for the store), a cool wall hanging and some great Christmas cards. PLEASE call the store or drop in to reserve your spot!

Christmas Cards by Pauline

Pauline is working with some great new stamps from Artful Stamper. I am so thrilled with these cards! This is definitely a back to basics class perfect for a beginner or one looking for a refresher on some of those great techniques you learned years ago.

The fall tree card is one you have to see in person to really appreciate it! It is stamped and heat embossed and full of glitter and dimension galore! On the red hat card, you will learn shading techniques using Tombow watercolour markers. There is also great dimensional aspects to this card. You will also be working with liquid applique and glitter.

Flourish Wall Hanging by Kim

I have had so many of you ask if I would ever consider doing this Kaiser Craft project as a class....well, I do like to please so here you go! We just had my sister's wedding on the weekend so of course I HAD to work with some of the pictures from the big day! Don't worry....I will be posting more from the event including all my stationery!

You will be learning how to distress the edges of the project using multiple colours of distress ink to give a "burnt" look. You will also be making the paper flowers and learning tips on adding the right embellishments to dress your project. Again, this is a great project for crafters of all ages and levels. A perfect gift or keep it for yourself.

Mixed Media Canvas by Linda

A Month of Awesome

When describing September, I think Kell said it best..."It has been a month of awesome". But why does 'awesome' have to be so darn exhausting? My month of awesome has been the reason you have not heard from me lately....sorry guys! Here is everything (and more) you wanted to know about my month and what is happening at The Pickle.

Some Pre-Wedding Awesome

We have had an amazing bridal shower at the store for my sister, Jen. We decorated with gorgeous eggplant paper lanterns and tons of bling. Did you know we have three different sizes of paper lanterns in at least a dozen colours? Priced from $2.50-$5.50. Too fun for your next party.....

Here is a picture of her invite that I designed which set the tone for the afternoon. I will have more photos of the store to share with you soon!

Speaking of invites and weddings, I will be at Divine Details Wedding Show this Sunday (September 25) from 12-4pm showing off more of my wedding stationery. Stop in and say hi!

Keith Urban Awesomeness
Then the next day, came a Keith Urban concert with all my favourite girls: my three sisters, my sister-in-law and my mom! We were front row and we sang and laughed and danced for a full two and a half hours. If you have not seen Keith in concert, you must! Honestly, you may have remembered our post from two years ago and I swear this concert was just as amazing. Here is a little taste of what I saw that night....Oh, you may even see some new projects in the store very soon with our fav guy.

Awesome Bachelorette
This past Saturday was another party.....this time it was my sister's bachelorette at Hallowbash. Hallowbash is a charity event that raises money for a great charity call Exceptional Riders at TJ Stables in Chatham. It is a halloween party (yes, in September). The organizers always go ALL out when organizing this event.

We decided to get all the girls to dress as an 80's bachelorette party. Let's just say a good time was had by all....now Sunday morning. Now that's a different story!

The girl's may hate me for this, but here are all the sisters having a little bit of fun. This isn't the best picture, but you should have seen my bangs that night! Man, when I was getting ready, all the memories came flooding back....like riding a bike they say. I teased just like I did in grade 8. Hot!

CLASS UPDATE
Just wanted to let you know that there is still room in the two upcoming card classes (you do not want to miss out on these awesome classes!).

My mini album class is FULL (awesome!) I cannot wait to have a little fun teaching in this class!

The next round of classes will be posted on October 4th. All card classes will now be Christmas cards....I know. I know. It seems too soon but it is time to start getting some ideas for your cards this year. I plan on designing some great mini albums or other crafty projects that will make great gifts this year. ZONTA Christmas Card Extravaganza...(always awesome)

Notes to.... - A CLASS for well, anyone!

Happy Labour Day everyone! What do you have planned on this gloomy kind of day? I think today will be a day of catch up....hence the post! I told you that I had a great scrapbooking project coming up forever ago. I think this post was well worth the wait. I wanted people to get their money's worth in this class. I have made a 16-page album (plus front and back cover!) full of technique on every page.

So this is my "Notes to....my daughter" album but it could very well be a "Notes to....myself" or a "Notes to....my friend" or "Notes to....my Dog". Honestly, the stamps I used have such simple, inspirational sayings that are appropriate for anyone.

Cards by Debbie

Did I mention our cards are packed with technique?!?! Ah, yes I did! Debbie is the Queen of Technique these days. There is no pre-made decorative paper here! The bird card is a gorgeous double heat embossed card....the bird layer feels almost like it is laminated. You will also be working with perfect pearls and mini misters and distress inks. The "Wishing you happiness always" card is so cool....You will be using Glitter Ritz, creating an acetate window, using the bow-easy tool, embossing folders and more!

Cards by Pauline

Two gorgeous floral cards are perfect for any occasion. The first card has a beautiful vintage feel using crocheted ribbon, glitter, distress inks, punches, Spellbinders dies and more. Thee second card features Stampingbella's window box stamp complete with a dimensional awning. You will learn some great Prismacolor Pencil techniques including ways to add depth to your images but using multiple colours.

* Please note that this is a pencil technique class and it is best to bring the pencil colours below to get the most out of the class. Pencils can be purchased at the store at a cost of $1.95 each. Please let me know if you need any of these colours and I can order them in for you.

Ha....This image reminded me of my highschool days....I would tease the heck out of my bangs, add EXACTLY 12 sprays of Aussie's firm hold spay and then hop on the bus HOPING and PRAYING the spray would hold for the day...otherwise it I would be utterly humiliated! Yes, most days it was up for the challenge but not all. Maybe that is why I hated gym class so much......truly, why did I ever do that to my hair? Just wait 'til the post when I share my stories about my perm experiences.

Fourth Street Market

Did anyone make it out for Fourth Street's very first market last Saturday? What a pleasant surprise! Tons of people came out to check out the various vendors and service providers.

A portion of Fourth Street will be closed each Saturday for the month of August. Don't worry because there is still access to the parking across from The Royal Bank.

Here is a shot of the market in action. Quite impressive for a first day!

Latest CLASSES....yes, FINALLY!

So I think I am going to have to do it....use my "get out of jail free" card. I am so sorry guys! Wonder what the heck I am talking about? Well, I promised to have my class schedule out on Tuesday, July 12 and it is now VERY late on Wednesday, July 13th. This is the LAST time you can allow me to do this! I do have a good excuse though....you sure kept me busy with the sale over the last week and a half! Did we have fun or what? I've seen quite a few smiles in the store lately....one of the cutest came from a little boy today who was SO proud he pulled a '20% off' for his mom!

Let's Get Back to Basics with Debbie

Honestly, you should see how much fun Debbie is having these days! She has been "playing". By playing I mean, getting back into all of her fun products like Alcohol Inks and various other items to create gorgeous cards LOADED with technique.

You will be heat embossing, dry embossing, using Tombows, Perfect Pearls, mini misters, Alcohol inks, Cut n Dry foam, glitter, blending solution and more. This is the perfect class for those looking to learn about these new-to-you products or those of you looking for a refresher on some those techniques you learned a while ago including polished stone....hey, remember hearing about that one? Oh yeah...

What I like about this class is that Debbie will be showing you how one gorgeous stamp (one of Penny Black's latest releases) can be used a couple of different ways to create two beautiful cards!

Absolutely FUN Paper Projects by Kim

I designed this class with a beginner or a crafty little girl in mind. Please note that all of our classes are open to everyone and kids are certainly welcome! Hey, I have a great idea for you....why don't you grab your favourite girl and make a day out of it? Take a class then do lunch!

Couldn't you see using these pinwheels as toppers to a cupcake or centerpiece at summer party? Then giving these pyramid favour boxes to your guests? So versatile and so easy. Your friends may even start calling you Martha....

The Cuttlebug and Big Shot will be used to cut out the adorable pinwheel and favour box (new dies to the store). We will also be using Hero Arts new pennant stamps, glitter, Spica pens, decorative paper, paper punches, inks and more.

I have a special little treat in this class too! We will be filling the boxes with some yummy goodness! Can you tell I had WAY too much fun creating again? You may just see more of me!

CLASS - Mixed Media Techniques with Linda Heavens

So I mentioned in the last class posting that Linda has decided to go back to her roots and teach a mixed media technique class! There is still room in her class next Saturday, July 16th from 1-3pm. NO supplies are required except for your trusty scissors and adhesive! Cost $20. Give me a call at the store if you are interested!!! Here is the link to Linda's blog so you can check out what Linda herself has to say about this class! Something about sharing lots or tips and tricks....sounds like we are in for a treat!

So both of these cards are going to be created by you! There is no decorative background paper here except for the paper you will create! It is time to get those fingers messy and learn to play with some great product including alcohol inks, die inks, chalk inks, distress inks, dies, brads, twine, embossing powder, embossing folders, etc. One masculine card and one a little more feminine. Love them! Can't wait to take the class myself!

Has anyone noticed how perky I have been lately? Well it is all thanks to the new neighbour, DeKoKo's. The certified barista and entrepreneur, Christie DeKoning, is ensuring that you will now find me highly caffeinated at all times of the day. The good news is that my productivity is up 32%!

So this is now reason #576 on why you should visit The Paper Pickle....because the neighbours make a darn good cup of Joe. And great coffee is not the only thing you will find at DeKoKo's. Her desserts are, in my opinion, 'dill-ightful'. You can also find some amazing unique gift items by the highly talented Chatham-Kent Etsy Team.

So come on. Grab a cafe latte (my recommended favourite) and stop into The Pickle for a little browse. What's the worst that could happen? You could get lost in your own little world of creativity and sheer delight.

Smiles....they make all the difference.

You know what makes me smile? Watching a grown man running with his shopping cart and then hopping on for a ride. Totally random. Just for fun. Gets me every time.

You know what else makes me smile? Hearing my kid call me "Ma". I don't know why I like being called Ma but I do. Like, "Are we going yet, Ma? Let's go, Ma" I think I heard that like 30 times today when I had my assistant, Coulter with me at work today. I may have freaked if he had not so sweetly called me Ma.

I had a couple of other smile moments today. How can you not smile when you make someone smile? I made my UCC co-op student, Kerri smile today when I asked her if I could get a picture of us together. I then got another smile when I told her that I will miss having her around the store to help with our pricing and paper sorting and that she did a great job. I then got the biggest smile of all when I told her we could go next door to DeKoko's to get a soda and a chocolate cupcake! Thanks again Kerri (and her helper Rebecca) for all your assistance this semester!

I got a great reaction and smile at the end of my day (which just makes it all worth it) when I told our winner from our Retrofest draw that she was the big 'weiner'! Yes, I know it was a month ago but frig' my kid....the one that calls me 'Ma'.....broke my camera and I just got another one! I had to show you all AWESOME product Sarah Armstrong won.......

Over $150 worth, baby! Congratulations, Sarah! Hope you can have some fun playing. What do you think? Maybe I should do these a little more often! But only if you smile....

And finally, I think I just had another 'smile' moment......writing on this blog. This makes me happy. I really should come here more often. ♥Kim

The Passing of a Great Man/Revised Store Hours

Sadly, on Monday, May 30th we lost our Grandfather. He had been battling with cancer and Alzheimer's over the last year and a half. He was such an amazing entrepreneur and built a very successful business and farming operation for himself and the family. I can only hope to be as successful in my own ventures.

More importantly, Grandpa was know for his outgoing personality. He and my Grandma loved traveling in their RV and would make new friends at every stop. Every summer, for many years, they took all the grandchildren for trips to Toronto or Niagara Falls in the motor home or RV. I mean, who would have the courage to take 10 kids on a vacation?!? Now that I have children, I appreciate how truly amazing this was!!

Here is a picture of me on my wedding day with my Grandma and Grandpa nine years ago. It is sad, but Grandma passed away only 6 weeks ago. I am glad that they are together again.

The reason I am telling you all of this, is because the store will not open until 2:30PM on Friday June 3rd so I may attend Grandpa's funeral. I appreciate your understanding!

Here I Gush Again....

So has anyone noticed how cool our front window looks these days? In case you haven't been by (and shame on you!) here is a little peak from the perspective of an amazing photographer, Krystle VanRoboys (aka K.3 or my sister). Since the weather has not been cooperating around here for farming, I asked her to do a little freelance work for me. The files I have seen so far are so amazing. I have some big things planned for these photos....just you wait!

So everything in the window is for sale except for our mascot, "Bike". I just realized that the bike does not have a name. Isn't that funny since he is our mascot? Now I am not even sure if he is a "he"....I will have to check tomorrow.

So yes, back to the other saleable stuff in the window....we are now carrying the ever popular paper lanterns. They come in three sizes: Small 12" ($2.50), Medium 16" ($3.50) and Large 20" ($5.50) and they come in a range of colours. We have a ton in stock but I can always order them in quickly. They make for very fun decor in a child's room and are very inexpensive decorations for summer events including pool parties, showers, family reunions and more.

Debbie decided to pull out her Tombow markers and designed two fabulous cards! Tombow markers give such a gorgeous watercolour effect and are so easy to use. You will also be working with chalk, ribbon punches, distress inks, learning to heat emboss and use the Cuttlebug to cut and emboss. And if that's not enough to convince you, you will also be learning how to add dimension to your cards by making dimensional flowers and paper piecing with pop dots! A great class for ALL levels.

This is a great class if you are interested in learning how to use copic markers without investing a ton of money. Trust me, the colours of copics required for this class are ones you will be using over and over again (perfect skin tones). You will also be learning how to add depth to your shading by using a range of prisma pencil colours. Edge punches, working with spellbinders dies, paper piecing, ribbon will also be taught. Again, two beautiful cards perfect for any level of stamper.

Jacob's Ladder Accordian Album (taught by Kim)

You asked for it! And here it is.....Krystle designed the most gorgeous little project using Kaiser Krafts accordian frames, Pink Paislee's resist papers and tons of other goodies. The project measures 3x3 in size and is so cool the way the project cascades to reveal the photos on the back. This project was designed for Annelyse's baptism, but it could be great as a wedding album or for a trip.

I am not sure what Linda is designing but I know it will be gorgeous. If you have been following her blog, you will notice that she is going back to her roots and doing more technique cards rather than just colouring. She has gotten so passionate about mix media and she told me that she is looking to teach a class like that this summer. You can pre-register for this class and I will be posting class pictures when available. Take a chance; I know this will be one amazing class!

Relay for Life + Usborne Books = Let's Beat Cancer

I just had an Usborne Book party with my family and a few close friends and we raised $71 for the Relay for Life team called "Hope is Cumming". An amazingly brave, friendly and very generous woman named Jessica is donating all of her commissions from the party to her Relay for Life team. Jessica will be walking with her team beginning at 7pm on June 17th and finishing at 7am the next morning. You may wonder why someone would donate 100% of her pay to this team? It is because 4 months after giving birth to her beautiful daughter, she found out she had cancer and had to undergo months of chemo. Today, Jessica looks amazing and is in remission!

The reason I am tell you all this is because I think we have a chance to raise even more money for this great cause! I am keeping my party open until Friday night. Anyone interested in ordering, can come into the store and check out the catalogues or go online to see these gorgeous children's books. Orders can be placed at the store or you can email me at paperpickle@bellnet.ca to help out! I have a bunch of the Usborne books and they are so well made....my kids LOVE them. Julia's favourite is "Big Book of Fairy Things to make and Do" and Coulter recommends "Big & Little".

So I was starting to think that something was missing in my life and I figured it out.....it was Tim! Tim Holtz product that is! I mean we have always been fans and have aways carried the ever popular Distress Inks and powders, but we have been missing out on all the Idea-ology products....but not anymore! Those who love Tim, will love our selection of products including all the awesome metal embellishments, tiny fastener, various dies, tissue tape and more! Now if we could only get HIM in our store! A girl can always dream....

New Product Feature - Unity Stamps

I am excited to tell you that we are now carrying a HUGE selection of Unity Stamps. We fell in love with this company the moment we saw that at CHA in 2007. They have always been ahead of the curve in my opinion as they were trying to find ways to make stamps more affordable while keeping the quality at an all time high.

Kell and I always love to look at the rubber before deciding on whether or not we will carry a particular company's stamps or not. Unity passed our test with flying colours. Extra DEEP with amazing designs.

Cling Mount System

Unity Stamps come as either cling mount or on a piece of thin wood that can be stamped as is or inserted into one of their blocks. They are so easy to use.

Cling-Mount
Basically you peel the white protective backing from the cling cushion. You will notice that the cushion is NOT sticky but given the nature of the material, it just automatically clings to the acrylic blocks. The cushion and the deep rubber provides perfect stamping every time!

Mounting Blocks

Unity Block System
You will notice that their wood mount stamps use a very thin piece of wood (to help the environment and keep the cost down). They are meant to be inserted into Unity's special acrylic blocks that have a groove to fit them snugly in place while providing a thicker block that your fingers will thank you for especially if you have a bunch of impressions to make! These stamps can also be used without the block system.

When they introduced the Itty Bitty's I was so thrilled! You get one image or an image with a sentiment for $6.99! The stamps are HUGE and a great value in my opinion as they are cling mounts (so no need to purchase EZ Mount sheets or Tack n Peel). The images range from vintage to cutesy. Here are a couple of my favourites to the left.

What a nice surprise when our UPS friend, Jeff arrived today with an unexpected package. I immediately checked out the mailing label...ah ha! Basic Grey...Sweet Threads is here I thought! This collection reminds me why I say I love this company SO much!

Scrapbooking with Michelle

This is an amazing design by Michelle perfect for that special person in your life. You will work with Pink Paislee's awesome paper that has been designed for the resist technique. Class Schedule (finally)!

Sorry guys.....I told you that I would post the class schedule on Friday. I think I may have jinxed myself though when I joked about the store being flooded. Well the flooding wasn't at the store but rather at my house. It was a rusted out pipe that led to the septic tank. Well the problem was fixed today (finally!). All I have to say is thank goodness for Coulter's potty.

Now that I have shared WAY too much, have a look at the amazing classes the girls have designed. A few of these classes are coming up rather quickly so don't delay! Give me a shout at the store to sign up (DO NOT EMAIL!)

Scrapbooking with Michelle (THIS SATURDAY)

I know I haven't left you with much time to think about signing up for this class, but who needs to think about it anyways? This layout is gorgeous (as usual) and is jam packed with technique. Spritzing, distressing, working with ribbon and more. This is a one page layout but for those of you who insist on two-page spreads, additional paper can be purchased (or even an additional kit for $12) and Michelle will even make recommendations on what would look best. A great class for scrapbookers of various levels. Please note, title can be changed as you will be choosing from various die cuts.

What the hay?!? Has it seriously been ONE month since my last post?!? What have I been doing you ask? Well a little of this and a little of that. I have too many business related items to talk to you about that I can't tell you that we FINALLY finished all our new home renos and moved into our place. We took possession Nov 30 and JUST moved in two weeks ago. It has been a long haul, but it was so worth it. We love the place. Goodbye 40 year old flocked wallpaper.....hello, kid's artwork! Well no crayoned walls, just yet, but give it a month or so I am sure!

Also I don't really have time to tell you that we celebrated a couple of BIG birthdays....."baby girl" turned 5!! We celebrated with a family party and then her very first "friends" party a week later at The Pickle. She was so proud to show her friends her mama's store including the washrooms (I mean what is it with girls and washrooms....even at 5!). It is funny because I thought the party would have to be canceled because that same day, Coulter rolled out of his new BIG BOY BED and we spent the day in emerg only to find out he broke his collar bone. He is doing fine and all we have to do is have him wear a sling and it should heal just fine....wait....a two year old boy and a sling? How does that work?

I also had a BIG birthday....well, not THE big one but big enough. The big 3-5. I am still wondering how THIS has happened.

Zonta Cardmaking Extravaganza

We will be a part of another sure to be amazing Zonta cardmaking event on Saturday April 16th. The event runs from 10-4 at St. Clair College Thames Campus. Tickets are on sale NOW at The Pickle for a special rate of $42 (if you register by April 4th) and includes lunch and up to 10 projects! It is such a great event to pick up tips and techniques from local merchants and demonstrators with proceeds going to a great cause. Yes! Copic markers....beginner level! I have heard many of you asking about the copic markers but have told me you are not quite ready to invest in 18+ markers required for Linda's advanced level technique class. We also heard that you were looking for the return of Pauline's coloured pencil technique classes. This is exactly what Pauline is offering this month! Honestly, how cute are these?!?!?!

Annelyse Antonia Deline

Oh my! While I am so pumped and full of love, I should tell you all about a little adorable secret I have been keeping for the last few weeks. The Paper Pickle is proud to introduce our newest stamper, Annelyse Antonia Deline, who was born at 8am on January 8th, 2011!! She weighed 8lbs and 11oz and was 21 inches long. (Do you think 8 will be her lucky number?) I didn't mean to keep her a secret, but we have been extremely busy with renos (this is the reason you have not heard from me much lately....I have been battling 40 year old flocked wallpaper and it has been kicking my butt...but that is another story!) She is such a beauty and I can't wait 'til she can stamp with me and her mamma and Jules!

I just taught the nicest little group on Saturday! We worked on the Kaiser Craft wall hanging and we had so much fun learning from each other! It has been quite a while since I have taught and I must say it all came back to me. You may even see a little more of my creations in classes in the future!

So you notice I used the word "little" to describe our group on Saturday? We did have a few cancellations due to the weather but honestly ladies, our classes do not fill up at the speed they use to (remember they would be filled within an hour of posting the schedule?!?). That was insane....well now I think you all believe that if you don't call right away, you will be out of luck.....NOT the case. So call up a friend and make a date for one of The Pickle's classes! You will have a blast and maybe even feel like a kid again! We all need that every once in a while don't we?

Registration is going well for the new classes! It looks like you are interested in our NEW day classes and even the weekend dates! If you are interested in a class but the date does not work, please feel free to call in and we will add you to a waiting list. If there are enough people, I will open up a new date (ie. some have been interested in my Kaiser wall hanging, but Saturday's just don't work.....I may be tempted to do a second class in the evening). Featured NEW Product!

Yes, you heard right. I got a little excited over the holidays and ordered in a bunch of new product! The much anticipated tool called Sew Easy is here!! This tool by We R Memory Keepers allows you to created 7 beautiful stitches on your paper projects without having to pull out the ol' sewing machine. It is a tool where the heads can be changed to create different looks. Each head is sold separately so you can choose the designs you like best! Have a look at this YouTube video I found using the Sew Easy tool!

We also brought a great line of boy and girl paper from My Mind's Eye called Alphabet Soup. This is the boy line and the girl line has more pinks. Now this paper is just too darn cute and I don't know why I didn't bring it in sooner!! We have a bunch of the embellishments too including the flash cards, brads, chipboard and collection packs!

Well happy NEW YEAR everyone! Can you believe 2011 is here? I am so excited to see what this year has to offer! And speaking about offerings, I thought I would share with you our latest class schedule.

Copic Technique Class by Linda

First of all, I have to apologize for the blurry photo of Linda's cards! This photo is horrible but I just wanted to get the details out tonight. This is a technique class so you will be required to bring all of your own pencils and copic markers. This is a great class for those of you looking to learn how to colour using your copic markers better! Learn to colour like a pro!

Well, it has taken a little longer than I would have liked but I am THRILLED to tell you that I have found my Christmas Spirit! I was starting to worry that I was going to have that Bah Humbug look on my face in ALL our family photos this year! SO....it happened last night while I was working on my teacher's gifts. I'm not sure if you remember my little crush from the summer. He is strong, sleek and when he goes 'Choo-choo' I just melt.....yes, my summer crush was Kaiser Craft's Train Tidy. There was something about that little project that just made me happy. I decided that the school needed to have one in both the Toddler and Casa rooms to store things like crayons or pencils, etc. I packed the cars with baked goods and Eve's Chocolate dipped licorice (my fav). I then placed MY CRUSH on a cotton lined cardboard box (thanks to a brilliant idea from my Aunt Di).

The moment I wrapped the whole thing in the white snowflake cello....IT HAPPENED! I literally giggled aloud and was SO pleased with my special gift for the teachers! It made me SO happy. Call me a nerd (don't worry, I do all the time) but I am a paper nerd WITH Christmas spirit! I hope YOU find your Christmas spirit too.....♥

PS....We are open until 7:30PM tonight!

Well hello there! How have you been? It seems like it has been a while since we've chatted! It has been so wild here on Fourth Street over the last two weeks. Construction has really put a damper on things (boo!). I am pleased to tell you that parking is once again available on our road! Also, did you know that the Municipal Lots in downtown Chatham have 3 hour FREE parking at all their metered lots?

Crafty PROJECT Idea

As promised, I thought I would pass along one of my latest projects. It is KaiserCrafts' 9 Frame Photo Display. It features photos of my son taken by Fairytales Photography last November. I loved this photo shoot so much that I had to do just ONE more project using these pics!

The more I work with KaiserCraft products, the more I fall in love. ♥Ah!♥ They have everything from little mini albums to desk calendars to beautiful raw frames. We have completed many of their projects and you can view them in store. All Kaiser Craft project items are made of MDF board and the prices are right (ranging from $5.99 and up...this 13"x13" item is $18.99).

Rather than painting the board with acrylic paint, I thought 'what about inking it with some Distress Inks'? I am SO glad I tried because it almost looks like I was working with a real wood frame. I used Distress Inks in Scattered Straw and Aged Mahogany. They were applied directly but using a sponge dauber would give you a little more control. I then took one of Pink Paislee's clear stamps that had this gorgeous sheet music design and I was like "Whoa baby!". Texturized! LOVE!

I kept with the brown and burgandy theme when choosing my papers and added a few goodies like Tim Holtz' film strips, his gear dies (cut from paper and cork), a little gala glitz , Pink Paislee tags (dyed with the distress inks) and a couple of stamps. I glued the two pieces together with a hot glue gun then took twill to edge the entire frame (which was then distressed as well).

I have to admit that I started this at 10PM the night before our Open House and completed it around midnight! A quick and easy project for a loved one. Aren't you glad I'm helping you with your Christmas list this year?!?!

Ladies....Ladies. Honestly, where did you all come from on Sunday?!? The turnout was truly overwhelming! We saw first time customers, original customers, regulars, kids, grandmas, friends, family....ahhhhh♥! Let me just say that YOU made our day! A sincere and heartfelt thank you, goes out to all of you that took valuable time out of your Sunday to join us. You helped us eat goodies, did make and takes and visited with friends. It is was awesome! I am still smiling.

We couldn't have survived the day without our two AMAZING girls, (Aunt) Debbie and Kelsey! Also, a BIG thank you to Krystle, our sister and in-house photographer! All the photos in the slide show are compliments of this very talented girl! Also, did you happen to pick up some tips from Chatham-Kent's very own Stampingbella designers, Linda and Pauline? These girls helped complete our day! Thank you SO much!

New Product
So did you happen to see the new products in the store? In case you didn't make it in or in case there were too many people standing in the way (ha!), I will walk you through some of the new additions that I KNOW you will love.

QuicKutz Fashion Doll Set

This is the product we featured during our make and take, which was fabulous thanks to Kell. She and Krys were very hard at work creating and playing! Check out the samples they did up. The possibilities are endless. The best part is that the accessories and outfits don't use up a lot of paper and it is a great way to make use of all those scraps that you can't bear to part with (yeah, even those little 2x2 pieces....you know the ones! Don't worry, we save them too!) There are two sets and retail for $29.99 each. A must have on any creative fashionista's wish list!

Naughty Betty Napkins

So I know these are not scrapbooking or stamping related but hey, our name is The PAPER Pickle so I figured why not?!? These cocktails napkins are so beautifully designed, cleverly worded and SO perfect for the fab hostesses on your list. Which one is you? I am definitely "LIVING THE MINIVAN DREAM".

Basic Grey - Curio AND Marjolaine Collections

We have had these two lines for the past couple of weeks but I didn't get a chance to mention them here yet so here I go! These are BG's latest lines and they are great. I wasn't sure about Curio at first (the on-line images do not do it justice) but let me say wow! What a great line. Marjolaine is a very playful and great line as well in the nice blues and greens. They are both double sided which is also a plus.

A couple of people have been in telling me how disappointed they were about not making it in for the Open House and even more disappointed about not being able to take advantage of our gift card promotion. November Classes

Sorry to be posting so late in the day but we have been crazy busy at the store preparing for the Christmas Open House this Sunday! Have a look at what the girls have done this month! If you are interested in any of the classes, please call me or stop in to register. Payment must be made within 48 hours of signing up for the class. Kits
Kits will be available for all the classes below at a cost of $12 each. The kit will come with instructions, photos and supplies to make the various projects in the comfort of your own home. This is a great option if you love the designs but you can't make it to the class.

Two very different style cards but so much fun! The first is a very elegant card using Penny Black's latest stamp and Distress Inks. You will also be working with liquid pearls, Spellbinders, ribbon and more. The second card will be using various punches and cuttlebug embossing folders.

Christmas Designs by Debbie

Scrapbooking with Michelle

Michelle has created a great one page layout using Basic Grey's whimsical Max & Whiskers line. This is the perfect layout for pet lovers or for those of you with children. She used distress ink, edge punches, glossy accents, tim holtz bracket die, and more. You will be learning a cool paper folding technique for the flowers and for the strip on the left hand side. Echo Park - Wintertime IS HERE!

I hope you guys had a nice Halloween. We really worked our kids this year and now I think I am regretting it. Normally, we only stop at the grandparents and great grandparent's homes. Well this year, the little cupcake fairy and vampire got to go around Nana's block and man did they make off with a haul. I think I have consumed 20+ mini chocolate bars today alone. Wonder if Coulter noticed? Ha. Yes, I am a bad mother stealing from my own children.

So now I guess it's time to move onto Christmas. And I know many of you have been thinking about it for some time! Some of you even have your cards DONE! Man, that's organized!

For those of you still decided on your card designs this year, I think I have just the paper to inspire you. I have to admit that this is my absolute favourite Christmas paper of 2010. It is called Wintertime by Echo Park. The colours are beautiful....the designs are SO my style....they are double sided.....the weight is wonderful.....and all for $0.99 a sheet. Yup...I'll take one of each please (there are 12 different sheets in case you need to do the math...ha!) And for those of you that love the 6x6 pads....well this company has sized down some of their paper and they have printed 4 different patterns on one 12x12 sheet. Brilliant. There is lots in stock (at the moment) so stop in and check it out for yourself!

Nature's Playground Canvas Class by Michelle

Copic & Pencil Class by Linda

She's back!! I am thrilled to tell you that Linda will be teaching this month. Look for a class from Linda once every 8 weeks or so. So don't miss your chance to pick up some tips from a girl that was born to colour!

This is a technique class and you are responsible for bringing your own copics and Prismacolor pencils. Linda has two fabulous Stampingbella images for this class including Izzy has a cupcake and Lulu's wedding cake. I have stolen an image from Linda's blog (I hope that's ok) to show what amazing results you can achieve when working with both pencils and copics.

Project - The Little Engine that Could

This photo is proof of how much of a nerd I am! I am SO proud of this project and I wanted to make sure my photo captured my excitement and just how cool it really is. So I grabbed Coulter's train tracks (it is so different having 'boy' toys in the house) and my camera and headed outdoors on Monday afternoon. Isn't he cute?!?! I wonder where he is going carrying his load of colouring tools?!?!? *Wink!*

So this is Kaiser Craft's Train Tidy. I used Crate's School Spirit line to create this cheery little Choo-choo train! Now you have to understand how obsessed my 2-year old is with trains at this moment and he was my main reason for choosing this project. My plan was to have this done for his birthday (back in August) but I'm so glad that it didn't fit into my schedule until now because the paper wasn't out then! See, maybe a little procrastination is good!

Centre Car - Choo Choo

Have I told you how much I LOVE this paper? I was telling someone the other day that my two favourite lines right now have to be Crate's School Spirit and Restoration. The texture and weight of this paper is just gorgeous. You would think I was working for Crate with the amount of times I have raved about their paper lately!

So you can see that the cargo on this load are my kids colour tools. Actually the kids do not use my copics but I didn't have any of their markers left with lids on them so I had to grab some markers that would look good in the shoot! The size of the containers are just perfect too. The engine has a smaller 'box' and is ideal for crayons. The two remaining cars have ample rooms for loads and loads of markers and pencil crayons.

How to get this look...

There are some basic supplies that I always grab for when I am working on a project like this:

Perfect Paper Adhesive by US Art Quest (Matte) - it isn't tacky or messy and you can use it not only to glue the paper down but you can use it to seal the paper
Tsuki's Squeegee - to help glue the paper down wrinkle free
Acrylic Paint from the Dollar Store - cheap and great to cover the raw MDF board
Ink for distressing (usually brown or black) and a sponge dauber
A chosen Paper Collection (did I mention I used School Spirit by Crate Paper? ha!) - the paper, stickers and die cuts were used from this collection
A raw project....usually from KaiserCraft (the product is so strong but also very easy to manipulate with tools like sandpaper, crop-a-dile, scissors, etc.) and the products are also quite inexpensive which is always a plus! Only $15.99 for this dimensional train!

Other Products I used:

Glossy Accents on tires to add dimension

You will notice that I often grab for Glossy Accents and Crackle Accents to add some dimension to my projects. You will see the Glossy Accents used on the tires and the Crackle Accents used on the star.

I used Impression Obsession's stamp to add some texture to the tires

There are holes pre-punched in each of the pieces to string the

Crackle Accents to the star

elements together if you want. I thought it was best if each piece remained separate just in case Jules wanted the pencils and Coulter wanted the crayons. But, I wanted to give the appearance that the cars were attached to the engine. This is the reason I used the twine on the front and left them a little longer rather than cutting them the exact length of the car. I then stapled the two pieces together and then used Scor-Tape to tack it down.

We have extended our hours back to Tuesday-Friday 10am-5:30pm and Saturday 10am-3pm. I have to talk to my girls but I would like to have extended hours one night per week and have the store open until 6 or 6:30 in November and December. I will keep you posted!

Oh What a Wonderful Day - Giveaway!!!

You ever have one of those days and you can help but think "Life is GOOD!"? Well I'm having one of those days. I was out walking on King Street and everyone was so cheery, the sun was shining.....honestly how could I not be smiling?!? When I got back to the store, my favourite song "Teenage Dream" was on the radio and here I was, rockin' it out drinking my yummy Pumpkin Latte and just enjoying the moment! Ahhhhh....can it get any better?

SOOOOOOO what I was thinking (and I know you are going to like this), today is the day that I am going to do a little giveaway to spread the cheer.....did you just secret say "yesssss"? I have had a couple of you out there mention that this could be fun and I completely agree! A few weeks ago, I won a facebook giveaway by my favourite Canadian body product company called Barefood Venus. They are based in Western Canada and their products are just SOOO amazing! All I had to do is answer one little question and I won! So that is what I am going to do here.

Christmas Cardmaking Extravaganza - Saturday November 6

Fall CLASSES @ The Pickle!

Hello Everyone!

I am SO excited to introduce our first set of classes for the fall. We took a little break through the summer (with our card classes anyways!) and now we are back and ready to teach you lots of new and exciting techniques. Speaking of technique, these projects and classes are full of it! OK....now I must note that these pictures I take of the cards DO NOT do them justice. They look are all amazing in person and I know sometimes they come across a little dark. The one thing you should do is stop by the store to have a look at them in person or trust me when I say you NEED to take these classes!

Elegant Christmas by Debbie

I know what you may be thinking, Christmas already!?!? We honestly see people making Christmas cards through the entire year (even on those 30+ degree days we had this summer!) PLUS, these are the most important cards you will send out to your friends to "show off" a little so it's great to try out a few before you land on the perfect 'one'. These designs and techniques Debbie has incorporated into her cards are so versatile that they could be used for any occasion. NOTE: We will be putting out different Cuttlebug folders and stamps so you can turn these into different themed cards if you choose.

This card class is all about RIBBON! You will be making shabby ribbon flowers and learning a cool ripple technique. You will also be distressing, adding glitter, using Cuttlebug folders and edge punches and much more. Debbie has worked very hard on these cards and I just know she won't mind if you borrow her ideas for your cards this year!

Country Charm by Pauline

I am always amazed at the cards Pauline designs. Pauline will be working with the Prisma Pencils and helping you perfect your technique. You will also learn how to use your edge punches to make a VERY cool frame (as seen on the 'it's your day card').....I mean have a look...how did she do that? Take the class and you can amaze all of your friends!

Well the four boxes I have been waiting for have JUST arrived. Basic Grey is here!!!! I will be working on checking it in tomorrow and I will have it all out on the floor tomorrow! I am SO excited to dive into this order!!!!
